Vibration analysis

"Of all the parameters that can be measured non-intrusively in industry today, the one containing the most information on machinery health is the vibration signature."

(Art Crawford, aknowledged expert in the field  of vibration analysis)

Through periodic vibration analysis, Coservices detects a broad variety of machine problems using high-end analysers with advanced techniques like PeakVue.

Following problems could be detected:

In order to identify the condition of a machine, vibration readings are taken in different measurement points. Typically the measurement points are choosen at the bearing positions. Bearings are the closest point to measure the dynamic vibration coming from the rotor and are also vital for good operation of the machine.

For measuring roller element bearings accelerometers are the best option. These sensors can be mounted with a magnet, quick connection or a stinger.  Since the analyzer sends power to the sensor, the sensor is directly connected with the analyzer.

Typically data is collected on  4 measurement points and measured in 3 directions to be able to differentiate between different mechanical faults (misalignment, imbalance, bearing, motor , coupling, resonance, foundation,...).

Following measuring equipment is used by Coservices in order to trace such faults:

  • Portable (offline) analyzers like  CSI 2130
  • Online (in-place) systems: CSI 4500
If needed or wanted, Coservices does training on all aspects of vibration analysis. Follow this link to read more about these trainings.
