Imbalance

Imbalance generates high vibrations at rotating speed. It occurs when the centerline of a shaft does not correspond with the mass centerline.
The force that will be generated by such imbalance will be function of the rotational speed.
Typically a differentiation is made between static and dynamic imbalance. Static imbalance already has a force influence when the machine is not rotating, while dynamic imbalance occurs when the machine is rotating.

imbalance

The following conditions can result in imbalance:
  • Accumulation of dirt on fan rotos
  • Cracked rotor
  • Corrosion or erosion
  • Design

Imbalance is a problem that can be resolved by adding mass at a certain angle of the rotor. Many analyzers do have the capability to calculate the required weight for compensation of the imbalance. It will typically take 3 machine run & stops to solve a balance problem. Small rotors will be balanced in 1-plane, while larger rotors will require a 2 planes for putting the balancing weights.
Coservices provides equipment, service and/or training for balancing.
