CSI 2130 Advanced cross-channel program


Cross-channel data collection serves as an excellent base for identifying developing machinery faults, but cross-channel analysis is often required to identify the root cause of the fault. Expand the vibration analysis
application of the CSI 2130 with the cross-channel module to determine the actual movement of the shaft during operation and to identify structural faults, such as cracks and resonances. While the dual-channel CSI 2130 can
display orbits for turbo machinery analysis, the Advanced Cross-Channel module expands these capabilities to include impact testing and other types of cross-channel analysis.

Cross-channel analysis allows you to identify and measure critical resonant frequencies to foresee frequency conflicts that would cause structural damage and machine failure. You can also:


  • Identify forcing functions for specific vibration
  • 
  • Check the effectiveness of isolation mounts
  • 
  • Perform acceptance testing on new or rebuilt machinery
  • 
  • Identify loose or cracked assemblies in mechanical systems

    Coherence, phase and transfer functions are measured for the complete specified frequency range. The two input signal types could be equal, for example 2 accelerometers or 2 displacement probes, or could be different, for example an impact hammer and an accelerometer. In the first case, the purpose of the measurement is to measure the relationship between two input channels. The relationship between these two signals can be analysed, based on the phase and coherence reading.
    In the second case, the purpose of the measurement is to measure response of a system on a well known force coming from an impact hammer.

    CSI 2130 Advanced transient program


    The Advanced Transient Analysis module expands the power of a single- or dual-channel CSI 2130 to record the raw vibration signal over a prolonged period of time for post-processing and analysis. This is essential for diagnostics of turbo machinery, startup and coast-down or machines with short repetitive duty cycles. This data can be examined directly on the CSI 2130 or in AMS Suite: Machinery Health Manager. Transient analysis is typically used by machinery analysts who want to investigate the behaviour of a machine under varying (transient) conditions, such as during speed or load changes. This application is useful when troubleshooting repetitive machining operations such as boring or grinding. The fundamental procedure consists of collecting the waveform over the period of time when an event of interest is likely to occur, such as during one complete cycle of a machining operation, during a process change on a compressor, or during the coast-down of a machine rotor.

    After the data has been acquired, it can be examined for any changes in pattern, frequency, or amplitude. These “events” can reveal how the machine is responding to these transient events or what is causing them.
    After collecting the data, you can view:

  • 
  • Detailed waveform channel A and B
  • 
  • Spectrum up to 51200 resolution lines channel A from any moment
  • 
  • Spectrum up to 51,200 resolution lines channel A and B
  • 
  • Unfiltered and filtered orbits
  • 
  • Waterfall plot channel A and B
  • 
  • Waterfall plot channel B
  • 
  • Peak/Phase plot channel A and B (Bode and/or Nyquist)

    Most of these plots are available on the CSI 2130, but some are only available in the vibration analysis software.

    

    Advanced vibration analysis software

     

    The Advanced Vibration Analysis software provides in-depth analysis options for transient and cross-channel data collected with the CSI 2130, including cross-channel phase, coherence, and transfer functions. You can post-process transient data to show the vibration frequency characteristics during machine coast-down or startup. Waterfall plots, spectra, waveforms, peak-phase, speed plots and orbits can be calculated from any moment in time.
    The replay function will replay the transient data event in a virtual live mode to allow you to see how the various data is responding at any point in time of the transient data recording.
